NANJING, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Marine police of east China's Jiangsu Province have seized over 1,000 tonnes of smuggled oil products in waters near the city of Nantong.
The marine police spotted a suspicious ship near Lianxing Harbor in the city of Qidong under Nantong after receiving a tip-off. But the suspects on the ship ignored the police warning, turned off all their lights and tried to flee instead.
The police sent anti-smuggling motorboats to intercept the ship immediately. After a chase of more than two hours, the police controlled the ship, seized the oil products and arrested seven suspects.
Further investigation is underway.
