JERUSALEM, April 10 (Xinhua) -- A total of 10 Israeli elite soldiers were jailed for 10 days for violating the ban on gatherings amid the coronavirus pandemic, an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman said Friday.
The breach occurred on Wednesday evening in a southern training base during the special Jewish meal "Seder" that takes place every year on Passover holiday.
A group of soldiers from the C4i teleprocessing corps (IDF's elite technological unit) gathered against the military orders.
According to the IDF spokesman, an inquiry was later conducted by Lior Carmeli, head of C4i directorate, and the conclusions were handed to the IDF chief.
Carmeli decided to take a series of disciplinary measures, including an official reprimand, the dismissal of two direct commanders, and incarceration of the 10 fighters.
In addition, all those involved were ousted from any combat positions in the IDF.
