ULAN BATOR, April 11 (Xinhua) -- The World Health Organization (WHO) on Saturday donated medical protection supplies to Mongolia to help the country in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sergey Diorditsa, representative of the WHO in the country, handed over the supplies, including test kits, masks, and medical gloves, which are worth 80,770 U.S. dollars, to the country's Health Ministry and National Center for Communicable Disease (NCCD).
"People working in the health sector need to be healthy and protect themselves from risk in order to treat citizens. I am glad to receive the much-needed prevention supplies for medical workers," said Davaajantsan Sarangerel, Mongolia's health minister.
"I would like to thank Mongolian health workers for their tireless efforts. Your efforts are vital to overcoming this disease," Diorditsa said.
As of Saturday, a total of 16 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Mongolia.
According to the NCCD, all confirmed cases, including four non-nationals, are imported.
