LHASA, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Gao Zhan, a college graduate from the school of engineering at Tibet University, finally fulfilled his dream with an offer from the China Construction Sixth Engineering Division Corp, Ltd. in March through the Tibet employment platform.
"I've been longing for being engaged in construction engineering after graduation," said Gao, adding that he has taken an interest in architecture since childhood.
To better support employment of graduates and the resumption of work and production, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region has built an online platform that effectively connects employers and the job-seeking college graduates who have been facing increasing employment pressure due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
The regional department of human resources and social security has so far organized two online recruitment fairs for college graduates, with 470 enterprises providing nearly 6,000 jobs.
More than 17,000 local cadres across the region have been providing pairing assistance to college graduates, mobilizing their thoughts and helping with policy publicity, job promotion and employment training, according to Li Yantong with the department.
"I sent my resume online to several employers since this year's Spring Festival and has already received replies from two of them," said Norbu Wanggyai, a 2020 graduate of Xizang Minzu University.
In addition to promoting online recruitment, Tibet has also introduced multiple incentive policies and measures to further safeguard the employment of college graduates, concerning subsidies, entrepreneurship and credit financing.
Tibet posted a total of 51,627 jobs for college graduates last year and will have more in 2020 as local authorities step up efforts to collect more job information, post government procurement jobs and promote target-area student and supportive programs.
Meanwhile, more and more college graduates in Tibet choose to work outside the region.
Cering Lhakyi from the Tibet Vocational Technical College just got employed by a local agriculture and husbandry company in Tangshan, north China's Hebei Province, as a breeding technician with a monthly salary of 5,000 yuan after passing a remote video interview via WeChat.
Losang Cering, 23, said he is about to join a biotech firm in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, working as a lab technician.
"The company offers good pay. I'll get 4,800 yuan (about 678.5 U.S. dollars) a month during probation and around 6,000 yuan after becoming a regular employee," he said. Enditem
