ACCRA, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Lantianyi Company Ltd., a private Chinese food company in Ghana, has donated materials worth more than 50,000 U.S. dollars toward Ghana's fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lan Yongsheng, chairman of the company, said that their efforts include donations of soymilk beverages and medical supplies to various governmental institutions and local communities.

The donation came as Ghana reports 1,042 COVID-19 cases as of Monday, making it one of the hardest-hit countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

The government has imposed a partial lockdown to curb the spread of the virus, during which many people's lives have been affected, particularly the poor that rely on street businesses for a living.
