Number of COVID-19 cases in Mozambique reaches 70

MAPUTO, April 25 (Xinhua) -- The Ministry of Health of Mozambique (MISAU) announced on Saturday that the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 rose from 65 to 70, as five more people tested positive in the country.

Speaking at the daily briefing in Maputo, the National Director of Public Health Rosa Marlene said that the new cases, all male, are in quarantine in a camp in Afungi, Palma district, in the province of Cabo Delgado.

The National Director of Public Health added that all the new cases reported on Saturday resulted from the massive research and testing process in the Palma district.

"The process of mapping all possible contacts of the cases is underway and tests are still being carried out on site, in Cabo Delgado," she said.

In total, 62 cases are locally transmitted and eight are imported. The number of recovery cases remains at nine, with no case of death. Enditem
