KIGALI, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Rwandan President Paul Kagame on Saturday had a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, in which they discussed the COVID-19 pandemic and the two countries' cooperation.
"I just had a good conversation with President @realDonaldTrump. We discussed our good relationship, and the support he personally, and his administration are extending to Rwanda to combat the #COVID19 pandemic. This was much appreciated," Kagame said in a tweet.
U.S. Ambassador to Rwanda Peter Vrooman on Friday announced a donation of more than 4 billion Rwandan francs (about 4.2 million U.S. dollars) toward COVID-19 fight among health interventions in Rwanda.
The money will go toward empowering laboratory testing and training of community health workers in districts, the envoy said.
Rwanda on Friday reported 22 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, the highest number in a single day, bringing the total to 176. Enditem
