RAMALLAH, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Palestine on Saturday confirmed 11 new coronavirus cases, raising the total number in the Palestinian territories to 495 including 153 in East Jerusalem and 17 in the Gaza Strip.
Of the 11 new cases, nine were found in Shufat refugee camp in occupied East Jerusalem, while the other two were a mother and her daughter from Hebron District in the southern West Bank, said Palestinian Minister of Health Mai al-Kaila.
Meanwhile, the number of recoveries has increased to 105 after two new cases were discharged from quarantine in Ramallah district, she said, adding 328 remain under treatment.
The minister noted the percentage of relapsing cases stands at three percent, which is 11 percent lower than the global average.
East Jerusalem has the highest number of COVID-19 cases in Palestine, accounting for 60 percent of the total, while the most cases were found to be Palestinian workers returning from Israel, standing at 74 percent, according to al-Kaila.
According to official data, a total of 28,500 tests for the novel coronavirus have been conducted in Palestine since the outbreak of the disease in March. Enditem
