JERUSALEM, April 26 (Xinhua) -- Israel's population has reached 9.19 million, according to a report released on Sunday by the state's Central Bureau of Statistics ahead of the Israeli Independence Day to be celebrated on April 29.

According to the report, 74 percent of the population are Jews (6.806 million, which are 45 percent of all world Jews), and 21 percent are Arabs (1.93 million).

In addition, there are 454,000 Israelis who are non-Arab Christians or members of other religions.

The figures also show that since Independence Day in 2019, the Israeli population has increased by 171,000, which is a 1.9 percent rise.

During this period, approximately 180,000 babies were born in Israel, 35,000 immigrants arrived, and 44,000 died.

The population of Israel was only 806,000 when the country was established in 1948 and has since grown by more than 10 times.

Also, 28 percent are aged 0-14, and 12 percent are 65 and older. In addition, 50,000 people living in Israel are over the age of 90.
