TIRANA, April 28 (Xinhua) -- The Albanian government has decided to open schools for a few weeks only to high school graduates due to the coronavirus pandemic, Minister of Education, Sports and Youth Besa Shahini said on Tuesday.

During an online press conference, Shahini announced the latest government decision on the 2019-2020 school year, which was interrupted in an effort to prevent the spread of coronavirus among students.

According to the decision, high school graduates will return to school from May 18 to June 5 to prepare for the state exams, which will be held from June 8 to 18.

The 2019-2020 school year process will be closed in June, and during this time teaching will continue to take place online, Shahini said.

"Students from first to 11th grade will continue to study at home through online classes until May 29," she explained.

"The partial opening of schools will begin by enforcing strict rules of social distancing and the maximum number of students per class will be 15," Shahini added.

The minister did not make any announcement for the university students.

Schools and universities in Albania have been closed since March 9, when the first case of coronavirus infection was confirmed in the country.

As of Tuesday, the total number of cases in Albania reached 750, with 431 recoveries and 30 fatalities, according to the Public Health Institute. Enditem
