JAKARTA, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia has joined in the solidarity trial launched by the World Health Organization to examine several medicines for patients infected by the COVID-19, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said on Wednesday.
The trial is carried out through the comparison between the standard treatment and the one using drugs which are being tested, according to the minister.
The tested drugs are remdesivir, lopinavir/ritonavir, lopinavir/ritonavir which are combined with interferon beta 1-a, and chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine, she revealed.
"The trial aims at finding the most effective treatment for COVID-19 cure," the minister said, adding that for examining the most efficacious medicine, a total of 22 hospitals across the country have been involved in the trial.
The hospitals include RSPI Sulianti Saroso in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta, Hasan Sadikin Hospital in West Java province, and Adam Malik Hospital in North Sumatra province, the minister noted.
The COVID-19 has killed 784 people and infected 9,771 others across the country. Enditem
