JAKARTA, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Permanent missions of the 10 member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) received medical materials donated by China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region here on Wednesday, including masks and thermometers.

Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN Deng Xijun attended the donation ceremony, saying that Guangxi has a pivotal position in the cooperation between China and ASEAN, and ASEAN has been Guangxi's largest trading partner for years.

After knowing that the ASEAN missions are short of medical materials to prevent COVID-19, the government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region urgently allocated these materials and delivered them to Jakarta within a short time with the help of the Chinese mission to ASEAN, Deng added.

Philippine Ambassador to ASEAN Noel Servigon, whose country now serves as the country coordinator for ASEAN-China relations, said in his speech that China's aid will help the ASEAN missions better respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Enditem
