TASHKENT, May 1 (Xinhua) -- More than 11,500 people have been evacuated after the Sardoba dam in the central Syrdarya region burst, the Uzbek Emergency Ministry said Friday.
The dam burst in the early morning, flooding residential areas and crop fields, the ministry said, adding that villagers in nearby areas have also been asked to leave.
So far, there have been no reports of human casualties, it said.
Emergency services and relevant agencies have been working to mitigate the consequences of the flood, the ministry said. Enditem
