DHAKA, May 1 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh on Friday reported 571 new COVID-19 cases and two deaths, taking the total number of confirmed cases in the country to over 8,000.
"A total of 571 new COVID-19 positive cases and two deaths were reported in the last 24 hours across Bangladesh," senior health ministry official Prof. Nasima Sultana told a televised press conference on Friday afternoon.
According to the official, a total of 5,573 samples were tested in the last 24 hours across Bangladesh.
Health ministry data showed the country's total number of COVID-19 cases now stands at 8,238 and the death count has reached 170.
It showed that 14 more patients were released from hospital during the last 24 hours, bringing the number of total recovered patients to 174 so far in the country. Enditem
