NAIROBI, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Two more Kenyans have been suspended for doping-related offenses by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU).
Alex Korio, who was eighth at Jianzhen International Half Marathon in Yangzhou, China and his compatriot Mikel Mutai will have to stay out of competition for separate violations of World Athletics anti-doping rules.
Korio failed to inform the anti-doping officers about his program.
"The AIU has provisionally suspended road runner Alex Korio of Kenya, all for whereabouts failures and violations of the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules," AIU said on Saturday.
Mikel Mutai, the Kenyan marathon runner, has been punished for "the presence of a prohibited substance" known as norandrosterone in his sample.
AIU said the two have been issued with charges and must present themselves to the tribunal to defend why they violated the rules.
This year alone, Kenya has also seen former world marathon record holder Wilson Kipsang, Kenneth Kipkemoi, Mercy Jerotich, James Kibet and former world junior 800m champion Alfred Kipketer suspended and charged for whereabouts failures by AIU. Enditem
