TIRANA, May 4 (Xinhua) -- The average monthly gross salary per employee in Albania in 2019 increased 3.5 percent year-on-year to 52,380 Albanian lek (around 464 U.S. dollars), according to the Labor Force Survey for 2019 published on Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INSTAT).
According to the survey, the economic activities that provided salaries below the average level include wholesale and retail trade, transport, accommodation and food service activities, as well as agriculture, forestry and fishing.
In 2019, the gender pay gap between men and women in Albania was 10.1 percent, decreasing by 0.6 percentage points in comparison to 2018.
During 2019, 27.9 percent of employees in Albania received an average monthly gross salary lower than the official minimum salary, which stands at 26,000 Albanian lek (around 230 U.S. dollars).
The survey showed that the most paid professions in 2019 were lawmakers, senior civil servants and executive directors, specialists with higher education, and technicians, while professions related to agriculture, forestry and fishing, craftsmen, artisans received salaries below the average level.
INSTAT's Labor Force Survey for 2019 confirmed the lowest unemployment rate recorded in Albania in the last 30 years at 11.5 percent. Enditem
