3,325 people isolated over COVID-19 concerns in Syria since February

DAMASCUS, May 4 (Xinhua) -- As many as 3,325 people have been quarantined over COVID-19 concerns since February, the Syrian health ministry said in a statement Monday.

A total of 2,554 out of the 3,325 were released after their COVID-19 tests came negative, the ministry said. It added that 771 people are still in quarantine for further tests.

The ministry noted that 44 confirmed COVID-19 infections have been recorded in the country, including 27 recoveries, and three deaths.

It said that three trips for Syrians abroad have recently returned to Syria, noting that the passengers were all taken to quarantine for further tests.

Meanwhile, the ministry stressed the readiness of the hospitals and medical centers to provide health care and accommodation for the suspected cases for free.
