HOHHOT, May 6 (Xinhua) -- An ancient tomb has been discovered in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

When repairing a road, a local farmer found the tomb, about 1,000 years old, in the township of Sijiazi. It was built during the Liao Dynasty (916-1125 AD) and features murals, according to the Inner Mongolia prehistory culture museum.

Archaeologists managed to fetch the murals, about six square meters in area, which vividly depict people's lifestyles and traditions during the Liao period, according to the museum.

The murals are currently kept at the museum, and will be repaired by professionals for further research. Enditem
