RIYADH, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabia announced on Wednesday that its coronavirus death rate is less than 0.7 percent, far below the world's average level, Saudi Press Agency reported.
Saudi Health Minister Tawfiq Al-Rabiah said in a statement that the death rate of COVID-19 in the kingdom is 10 times lower than the global rate of around 7 percent.
Al-Rabiah attributed the low death rate to the unified treatment protocol and random screening to discover and treat cases at early stages.
The minister revealed that the kingdom has prepared thousands of beds and ventilators for critical coronavirus cases and 96 percent of them are now vacant.
Meanwhile, the health ministry reported on Wednesday nine more deaths from the virus, raising the fatalities to 209 cases. It also registered 1,687 new confirmed cases, bringing the tally to 31,938. Enditem
