JAKARTA, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia has officially postponed the BCA Super League Triathlon Bali 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Antara news agency reported here on Thursday.

The event was previously scheduled to take place from June 13 to 14 in the country's resort island of Bali, said the organizing committee, that has yet to determine the new schedule for the international championship.

"The priority is the safety of the triathletes, members of the committee and spectators," the committee remarked.

The decision on the postponement was made for the second time, as the committee had first delayed the schedule from April 3-5 in respond to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The competition includes challenging routes such as a tropical forest with muddy roads, said Christ McCormack, one of the founders of the championship.

About 2,500 participants took part in the event last year. Enditem
