DAMASCUS, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Turkey-backed rival rebels clashed on Thursday evening in the city of Afrin in northern Syria, a war monitor reported.
The clashes took place between the members of the Ahrar al-Sham group and the Jabha al-Shamiyeh in the Ashrafiyeh neighborhood in the center of Afrin in the northern countryside of Aleppo province, reported the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The Britain-based watchdog group said no reports have emerged about the casualties of the clashes.
It said the Ahrar al-Sham brought reinforcement forces to Afrin amid intense clashes with Jabha al-Shamiyeh.
Thursday's clashes is the latest in a spate of infightings by the rebels in the areas controlled by Turkish forces and Turkey-backed rebel groups in northern Syria. Enditem
