BEIJING, May 19 (Xinhua) -- China has reported 1,622 imported COVID-19 cases since the World Health Organization declared on March 11 the outbreak a pandemic, a Chinese health official said Tuesday.

Meanwhile, 207 domestically transmitted cases were reported, said Mi Feng, an official with China's National Health Commission, at a press conference in Beijing.

Mi stressed unremitting efforts to curb the spread of the virus, noting that the country still faces increasing pressure to prevent imported cases, with sporadic cases and cluster infections being reported in some regions recently.

Regular and targeted prevention and control measures should also be improved, Mi said.
