BEIJING, May 24 (Xinhua) -- The following are the highlights of China's key technology news from the past week:
UPGRADED TRACKING VESSEL
China's upgraded tracking vessel Yuanwang-6 has sailed to the Pacific Ocean from a port in east China's Jiangsu Province Wednesday for multiple maritime missions of spacecraft monitoring.
Yuanwang-6, commissioned in April 2008, represents the third generation of the country's Yuanwang space-tracking ships. The upcoming mission will test the vessel's new equipment and improvement in measuring and controlling operation, laying foundations for future missions including the Mars exploration and Chang'e-5 lunar probe launch.
GRAVITATIONAL-WAVE DETECTION
Chinese space scientists and engineers have finished testing key technologies for space-based gravitational-wave detection with a dedicated satellite.
After the Tianqin-1 satellite was launched on Dec. 20, 2019, six key technologies have been tested over the past six months, including high-precision inertial sensing and micro-Newton propulsion, both of which are necessary to detect gravitational waves in space.
AI DIAGNOSIS
Chinese scientists have applied artificial intelligence (AI) technology in diagnosing benign, malignant thyroid nodules by analyzing big data.
With the help of the AI analysis on big data, the scientists found the combination of protein molecule markers in around 1,000 thyroid nodule cases. And these markers are anticipated to enhance the diagnostic accuracy of benign and malignant thyroid nodules.
PLATEAU UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLE
AR500C, China's first unmanned helicopter for plateau regions, has completed its maiden flight recently in the eastern province of Jiangxi.
Developed based on unmanned helicopter AR500B, the AR500C has a maximum take-off weight of 500 kg, a take-off height of 5,000 meters and a service ceiling of 6,700 meters. It will be used for reconnaissance and communication relays. Enditem
