JAKARTA, May 26 (Xinhua) -- The COVID-19 cases in Indonesia rose by 415 within one day to 23,165, with the death toll adding by 27 to 1,418, Achmad Yurianto, a health ministry official, said at a press conference here on Tuesday afternoon.

The pandemic has spread to all the 34 provinces in the country.

Authorities have been conducting rapid tests in areas where cases were detected, and ordering the public to always wear masks to curb the spread.

In support of the implementation of the large-scale social distancing regulation (PSBB), President Joko Widodo has instructed the police and military chiefs to assign personnel in crowds in public spaces.

"As of today, the Indonesian Military and National Police will be posted in crowds in order to discipline the public so that (they) follow the health protocols in accordance with PSBB," the president said in Jakarta on Tuesday morning.

The military and police personnel are posted massively in four provinces as well as 25 regencies.

"We want to keep being productive, but safe from the COVID-19," Widodo said, after inspecting a shopping mall in West Java province's city of Bekasi on Tuesday. Enditem
