COVID-19 cases in Palestine rise to 613

RAMALLAH/GAZA, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Palestine on Wednesday said that eight new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, bringing the total number of cases in the Palestinian territories to 613.

Palestinian Minister of Health Mai al-Kaila said in a press statement that three cases were registered in the Gaza Strip and five others were found in the southern West Bank district of Hebron, including two children.

The cases in Gaza were confirmed by the Hamas-run Health Ministry, which explained that the three patients have returned through the Rafah border crossing from abroad and have been admitted to quarantine since their return.

Overall, the number of patients in the coastal enclave has climbed up to 61, of which 18 have recovered and one died, said the health authorities in the Gaza Strip.

According to the official data, the number of recovered cases of COVID-19 in Palestine has increased to 483, which comprises over 80 percent of the total number of cases. Enditem
