Kenya confirms 147 new COVID-19 cases as tally rises to 1,618

NAIROBI, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Kenya's Ministry of Health on Thursday confirmed 147 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections to 1,618.

Mutahi Kagwe, cabinet secretary in the Ministry of Health, revealed that the cases were detected after testing 2,831 samples in the last 24 hours.

Kagwe told journalists in Nairobi that 13 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of those who have been discharged from hospitals to 421 patients.

He, however, noted that three patients succumbed to the disease, bringing the total number of deaths so far to 58, adding that those patients had underlying conditions.

Kagwe urged Kenyans to visit health facilities for tests, noting that the country has set up special health facilities to deal with COVID-19. Enditem
