Malaysia's April producer prices index falls 5.1 pct

KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's producer price index (PPI) for local production decreased 5.1 percent year on year in April, official data showed Friday.

Malaysian Statistics Department said in a statement that the drop was the lowest rate of change recorded since November 2015.

The mining index registered a decline of 58.3 percent while water supply index drop at 1 percent.

In contrast, the index of agriculture, forestry and fishing increased 8.7 percent followed by electricity and gas supply index (0.2 percent) and manufacturing index (0.1 percent).

On a monthly basis, the PPI for local production fell 2.7 percent as compared to March. Enditem
