BEIJING, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up by 0.07 percent, at 2,923.37 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.04 percent lower at 11,108.36 points.
The combined turnover of the two bourses stood at 777.81 billion yuan (about 109.44 billion U.S. dollars), expanding from 772.11 billion yuan the previous trading day.
Losers outnumbered gainers by 893 to 538 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,284 to 844 in Shenzhen.
Stocks related to street vendor businesses and photoresists posted strong performance, with shares of Zhejiang China Commodities City Group Co., Ltd. surging by the daily limit of 10 percent to end at 4.6 yuan per share.
Companies in the dairy sector led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.1 percent to close at 2,143.12 points on Wednesday. Enditem
