BEIJING, June 14 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

TOKYO -- The Tokyo metropolitan government on Sunday confirmed 47 new cases of COVID-19 infections, only a few days after Tokyo Gov. Yuriko Koike lifted "Tokyo alert" over the pandemic to allow all business to reopen.

This is the first time since May 5 that the daily count for Tokyo has risen above 40 as fears grew over a possible second wave of infections in the capital.

HANOI -- Vietnam reported no new cases of COVID-19 infection on Sunday, with its total confirmed cases remaining at 334 with zero deaths so far, according to its Ministry of Health.

A total of 323 patients in the country have recovered from the disease, according to the ministry.

KAMPALA -- Uganda's Ministry of Health on Sunday reported 11 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 696.

Out of 2,949 samples collected from cross-border cargo truck drivers and community over the last 24 hours, 6 Ugandan truck drivers who arrived through the border points of Elegu and Malaba, 4 contacts and alert cases and a frontline health worker tested positive for the virus, said the statement.

DAKAR -- Senegalese Ministry of Health and Social Action reported on Sunday 94 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of infections in Senegal to 5,090 cases.

During the daily briefing of the situation of COVID-19, health ministry's spokesperson Dr. Alyose Waly Diouf said that a total of 1,232 testing were carried out during the last 24 hours, among which 94 returned positive, including 79 followed contact cases and 14 community transmission cases.

WUHAN -- No new confirmed or suspected COVID-19 cases were reported in central China's Hubei Province on Saturday, the provincial health commission said Sunday.
