HANOI, June 16 (Xinhua) -- Flying unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and ultra-light aircraft have been prohibited in Vietnam's areas considered of significant national defense and military importance under management and protection of the Ministry of Defense.

The distance from these vehicles to the above mentioned areas horizontally must not be less than 500 meters at any height, daily newspaper Vietnam News cited an official decision recently signed by Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc as reporting on Tuesday.

The decision stipulates other no-fly and restricted flying zones to UAVs and ultra-light aircraft.

Accordingly, the no-fly zones also include working areas such as offices of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the state, National Assembly, government, ministries, diplomatic and consular missions, and international organizations in Vietnam, among many others, according to the decision.

The drones are also banned from flying in defense and security areas including military stations and warehouses, factories, logistic bases, prisons and detention camps of the country's Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Public Security, and other areas related to national security, the decision said.

Meanwhile, the areas of military and civil airports were also noted as no-fly zones. These no-fly zones extend by 15,000 meters and 5,000 meters from two sides of rectangular shapes of the runways at any height.

The decision, which took effect from June 10, also regulates restricted flying zones to drones and ultra-light flying vehicles, including areas of crowded gatherings, some specific border areas, among many others, the newspaper reported. Enditem
