JAKARTA, June 20 (Xinhua) -- Ten people went missing after a ship sank in waters off Sunda Strait in the western part of Indonesia, while a search for the victims continued on Saturday, an official of a search and rescue office said.
The ship, KM Puspita Jaya, went down after leaving Banten province for Rakata Island near Child of Krakatau volcano, spokesman for the National Search and Rescue Office Yusuf Latief said.
The spokesman said that dozens of rescuers have been deployed in a mission to search for and rescue the victims.
"Ten people remain missing, and our personnel have been searching for them," he told Xinhua by phone.
Six people survived Thursday's sea accident, the spokesman said, citing that 16 people were on board during the mishap.
Sea accidents often occur in the vast archipelagic nation of Indonesia, and lax implementation of the safety standard has been partly blamed for such tragedies. Enditem
