Live COVID-19 updates: Afghanistan reports 409 new cases

BEIJING, June 21 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

KABUL -- Afghanistan reported on Sunday 409 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, taking the country's total to 28,833, the country's Ministry of Public Health said.

Within the past 24 hours, 1,007 tests were conducted, and 409 were positive cases, the ministry said in a statement.

SOFIA -- Bulgaria's COVID-19 death toll has risen to 199 as six more patients have died in the past 24 hours, official figures showed on Sunday morning.

The latest six deaths were all men, aged 45, 54, 58, 60, 61, and 65, the country's health ministry said on its website.

BISHKEK -- Kyrgyzstan's COVID-19 cases reached 3,151 on Sunday, with 170 new confirmed cases in the last 24 hours.

Of the new confirmed cases, 10 are medical workers, taking the number of infected medical workers to 556, with 387 recoveries, the country's Deputy Health Minister Nurbolot Usenbaev said at a news briefing.

NEW DELHI -- The number of COVID-19 cases in India surpassed the 400,000 mark on Sunday, reaching 410,461, as the total deaths due to the virus crossed the 13,000 mark, reaching 13,254, said the latest data released by the health ministry.

The ministry reported 306 new deaths and 15,413 more cases during the past 24 hours across the country.

BEIJING -- Chinese health authority said Sunday that it received reports of 26 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland Saturday, of whom 25 were domestically transmitted and one was imported.

Of the domestically transmitted cases, 22 cases were reported in Beijing and three in neighboring Hebei Province, the National Health Commission said in its daily report. Enditem
