XI'AN, China, June 25 (Xinhua) -- China's second-tier football club Chang'an Athletic received Dragon Boat Festival gifts from local fans on Thursday.

All players and coaches of the China League One side received a gift box containing three rice dumplings and some tiny green bean cakes.

Thursday is China's Dragon Boat Festival, a day on which Chinese people traditionally eat rice dumplings.

"We sent each member of our team three rice dumplings, because we expect our team to grab three points in every match of the 2020 season," said Shaanxi Fans Association chief He Yuming.

The team has been training on home turf in Xi'an, capital city of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, since June 12.

"During the session, I will determine our starters," said Chang'an Athletic's South Korean head coach Kim Bong-gil.

Newly promoted to League One in 2019, Chang'an Athletic finished ninth in the 16-team table with 13 wins, 5 draws and 12 defeats.

Although the COVID-19 pandemic has eased considerably in China, the Chinese Football Association has yet to announce the 2020 season's schedule. Enditem
