New Zealand reports 1 new COVID-19 case

WELLINGTON, June 26 (Xinhua) -- New Zealand reported one new case of COVID-19 on Friday in managed isolation, bringing the total active cases in the country to 14, according to the Ministry of Health.

All the 14 cases are in managed isolation or quarantine facilities, and there are no cases of community transmission, said a ministry statement.

The case is a man is his 30s who arrived in New Zealand on June 21 from Kenya via Doha and Brisbane. He has been staying at the Novotel Ellerslie and is moving to the Jet Park Hotel on Friday. The man tested positive for COVID-19 as part of routine testing on the thrid day of his stay, according to the health ministry.

New Zealand's total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported to the World Health Organization is now 1,170, it said.

"There will still be wide testing of people with cold or flu-like symptoms as part of our ongoing community testing and surveillance for the virus," it said.
