Kyrgyzstan reports 250 new COVID-19 cases

BISHKEK, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan reported 250 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday, taking its total to 4,204, while its death toll stands at 43.

The country's deputy health minister Mademin Karataev told a news briefing that the cases were detected after medical personnel carried out tests on 4,212 samples in the last 24 hours.

He said that of the new cases, three are imported, while the other 47 are contacts of confirmed cases.

Karataev also noted that among the new cases 21 are medical workers, taking the total number of infected medical workers to 669, including 403 recoveries.

The number of recoveries increased to 2,162, following 50 new recoveries in the last 24 hours.

Currently, 633 people are being treated in hospitals, including 12 in intensive care, while 1,366 asymptomatic patients are under home quarantine.

The deputy minister added that due to the increased cases, the republican headquarters for COVID-19 has instructed employees to work from home, and called on local state administrations to tighten control on markets, retail outlets and other places where crowds are often seen. Enditem
