The lion dance, a traditional Chinese performance art, is often staged on big occasions, such as the Chinese New Year, for good luck, as it is believed that the lion is an auspicious animal. 20-year-old Song Zijie is a lion dance coach and one of the best local lion dancers in Teng County, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Born in this region known for its long history of lion dancing, Song has been practicing for more than eight years despite early opposition from his family.
