Kyrgyzstan's COVID-19 cases exceed 5,000

BISHKEK, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan's confirmed COVID-19 cases reached 5,017 after 269 new COVID-19 positive cases were registered on Monday.

The country's Deputy Health Minister Nurbolot Usenbaev said that from a total of 2,722 medical tests that were conducted within the last 24 hours, 269 of them were positive for COVID-19.

He said that of the new cases, nine cases are imported, and the remaining 260 are contacts of confirmed cases.

Meanwhile, the number of patients discharged from hospitals rose by 52, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,294, while the death toll from COVID-19 reached 50 with three additional deaths registered.

Currently, 716 people remain hospitalized, and 26 patients are in intensive care.

In addition, 1,957 asymptomatic patients are in home quarantine, and a total of 19,606 people have had contact with the infected patients. Enditem
