BEIRUT, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Zasypkin that U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Dorothy Shea's remarks on Hezbollah are considered a "clear incitement to strife," reported local al-Joumhouria newspaper.

Shea announced earlier this week that Hezbollah stands behind the economic and financial crisis in Lebanon.

"But we all know that the financial and economic reality in Lebanon is greatly affected by the U.S. sanctions and restrictions on money transfer to the country," Zasypkin was quoted as saying by the local newspaper on Monday.

The U.S. ambassador's remarks prompted Tyre's Court Urgent Matters Judge Mohammad Mazeh to prevent the Lebanese media from covering any speeches by Shea.

This has created a diplomatic spat between Lebanon and the United States which deepened divisions among different political parties in the country. Enditem
