The Three Gorges reservoir is preparing for a new round of floods of this summer. Heavy rain in the upper streams of the Yangtze River has resulted in flooding. Floodwaters could arrive at the reservoir on Thursday. At 2 pm Sunday, the reservoir saw an inflow of 40,000 cubic meters per second. The Yangtze River Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters ordered the reservoir to increase its outflow to 35,000 cubic meters per second per day. Meanwhile, the reservoir's power station began to run at near full capacity on Monday.
