ACCRA, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Ghanaian Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah has resigned following his failure to comply with the country's COVID-19 protocols.
The deputy minister came under fire after revealing on Thursday that he had mingled with people after testing positive for the novel coronavirus by visiting registration centers in his constituency before the expiration of his period of self-isolation.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Friday accepted the resignation, a statement said.
"In accepting the resignation, the president recognizes that Ahenkorah has acted honorably in the circumstances by resigning his office and wishes him well," the statement added. Enditem
