Malaysia reports 5 new COVID-19 cases, total at 8668

KUALA LUMPUR, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia reported five new COVID-19 infections, pushing the national total to 8,668 cases, the Health Ministry said on Monday,

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press briefing that of the new cases, three are imported and two more are local transmissions.

Another 11 cases had been released, bringing the total cured and discharged to 8,476 or 97.8 percent of all cases.

Among the remaining 71 active cases, two are being held in intensive care units and both of them are in need of assisted breathing. No new deaths had been reported, leaving the death toll at 121. Enditem
