Daycare center in N. Finland to close due to COVID-19 cases

HELSINKI, July 12 (Xinhua) -- A daycare center in Rovaniemi, northern Finland, will be closed after two COVID-19 cases were confirmed at the center, local authorities said Sunday.

The City of Rovaniemi said in a press release that an employee with the daycare center called Poropolku was diagnosed with COVID-19 on July 8, and a child was diagnosed later on July 11.

Following the two confirmed cases, a total of 70 children and staff members have been tested already. Among them, a quarantine decision will apply to 30 children and 5 daycare workers. Previously, 35 people have already been put in quarantine.

The kindergarten will be closed for two weeks from July 13, according to the press release.

Meanwhile, nine migrant agricultural workers in southern Finland's Paijat-Hame have been confirmed with COVID-19, and 80 others have been quarantined. The infected all had the same employer and they had not had any contact with the local general population, local health authority announced Sunday.
