RIO DE JANEIRO, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian football will have two transfer windows within four months to compensate for its coronavirus shutdown.

In a statement published on its official website on Monday, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) said the player trade periods would run from July 20 to August 9 and October 9 to November 9.

"The window from July 20 to August 9 represents a complement to the period that was opened at the beginning of the year and ended up being affected by the effects of the coronavirus pandemic," the CBF said.

"The second stage, from October 9 to November 9, is a rescheduling of the one that was previously set for the middle of the year," it added.

Brazil's two annual transfer periods usually run from January to March and July to August. World football governing body FIFA last month authorized the CBF to shift this year's windows because of COVID-19.

The Brazilian Serie A season is slated to begin on August 9, three months later than originally planned amid the public health crisis. Enditem
