BANGKOK, July 14 (Xinhua) -- The 41st Bangkok International Motor Show announced on Tuesday that its mega auto show will be open to the public on Wednesday after being pushed back twice since March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"This is more than just a motor show, to demonstrate that Thailand is able to contain the pandemic as we entered into the 50th day free of local COVID-19 transmission," said Prachin Eamlumnow, chief executive of head organizer of the event Grand Prix International.

Prachin said that once the motor show goes into the spotlight on Wednesday, international event organizers will be watching and admiring Thailand's capability in containing the virus, hence easing business restrictions, and allowing mega events to be launched.

Thailand will be the first to host a motor show on this scale since the pandemic, Prachin told reporters.

He said that from Detroit to Geneva, motor shows have been forced to cancel due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thailand is a major regional car production hub, with its previous motor shows registering more than 1 million visitors.

However, the motor show event organizers have pledged to limit crowds this year at the 41st Bangkok International Motor Show.

The 41st Bangkok International Motor Show will run from July 15 to July 26. Enditem
