AMMAN, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Fifteen new COVID-19 cases, including one local infection, were registered in Jordan on Tuesday, increasing the tally to 1,198, Jordanian Health Ministry said.

The local case contacted an infected person who was already under self-quarantine in Amman governorate, the ministry said in a statement.

It said that the other 14 cases included 13 Jordanians who returned home from Saudi Arabia and one from Turkey.

Also Tuesday, five more patients recovered from the disease and left hospitals, while 5,647 new virus tests were conducted, bringing the total tests to 477,448, the ministry said.

China has supported Jordan's fight against the pandemic. On May 31, China donated a batch of medical supplies to Jordan to help combat the coronavirus. Enditem
