TIRANA, July 15 (Xinhua) -- The resumption of restrictive measures to limit the spread of COVID-19 would have serious consequences for the Albanian economy, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nikolin Jaka, warned here on Wednesday.

In a communication to the media, Jaka appealed to all citizens to be careful in respecting the measures against coronavirus, sharing with reporters that he just recovered from COVID-19.

"We must all respect the measures imposed by the Health Ministry, as the consequences for a fragile economy like ours would be severe," Jaka told local reporters.

According to Jaka, the implementation of the COVID-19 health protocols has a cost for businesses.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry will prepare a detailed analysis in a three-month period in order to assess the cost for businesses in coping with the situation, as well as the losses caused by implementing the health protocols, Jaka noted.

Jaka praised the work of the medical staff and called on everyone to support health professionals.

Health authorities in Albania have imposed a set of measures and safety protocols for all companies and enterprises in an effort to limit the spread of coronavirus in the country.

On Wednesday, health authorities reported 85 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total of confirmed cases in the country to 3,752, with 2,091 recoveries and 101 fatalities. Enditem
