"Nine wounded people were admitted at a main provincial hospital Friday morning. Some of the affected people sustained serious wounds," Haleem Ghafari from provincial health directorate told Xinhua.

The incident occurred when an improvised bomb struck a police convoy on the outskirts of Pul-e-Khumri in the morning, a provincial police source told Xinhua anonymously.

Provincial police chief Wais Samimi who was in the motorcade did not get hurt in the incident, he said.
