When Yuan Pengshuai, a veteran soldier in north China's Shanxi Province, heard of the serious floods in Jiangxi Province, he thought he and his old comrades-in-arms could do something. Yuan organized a volunteer team immediately and the ten team members drove 1,300 kilometers to join the frontline flood control battle in Poyang County. After obtaining permission from local flood control task forces, the veteran soldier volunteers have been working as reinforcements on a river embankment.
