Liaoning defeat Shanxi to extend winning streak to eight in CBA

QINGDAO, China, July 24 (Xinhua) -- O.J. Mayo scored 26 points to help the Liaoning Flying Leopards defeat the Shanxi Loongs 114-77 here on Friday, extending their winning streak to eight games in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league.

Shanxi opened the game with a 9-5 lead. Liaoning guard Guo Ailun scored six points at the end of the first quarter to help Liaoning overtake the lead 27-21. Liaoning launched a 10-1 run to expand the advantage to 11 points. With Mayo's three-pointer, Liaoning ended the first half 56-42.

Mayo scored 11 points in the third quarter, and Liaoning expanded the gap to 17 points. Liaoning allowed only three points in the first five minutes of the fourth quarter; they found themselves leading by as many as 28 points, which was enough for them to seal the victory.

Liaoning had six players in double digits. Han Dejun contributed 20 points and 14 rebounds.

Liaoning power-forward Li Xiaoxu was injured in his right knee during the game. According to the Liaoning club, Li will need surgery, which might keep him out for the rest of the season.
