Australia records 10 COVID-19 deaths on Sunday

CANBERRA, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Australia recorded 10 COVID-19 deaths on Sunday, when the country's total confirmed cases surpassed 14,000.

All 10 deaths confirmed on Sunday were in the state of Victoria, with the victims aged between 40 and 80.

"They were seven men and three women. Seven were linked to known aged care outbreaks," said a statement from the Department of Health and Human Services of Victoria state on Sunday.

It took the national death toll to 155, 71 of which have been in Victoria.

As of Sunday afternoon, there had been 14,403 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Australia, and the number of new cases in last 24 hours is 475, according to an update from Nick Coatsworth, the Australian government Deputy Chief Medical Officer.

Of the new cases, Victoria has confirmed 459, dashing hopes that the state was starting to slow the spread of a second wave of infections. Enditem
